"Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,
because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever
good he does..."
Ephesians 6:7-8
Here's our list of open serving opportunities at New Life. Our top needs are listed first.
If you have any questions about serving at New Life in general, please feel free to contact Joel VanderSchel, 734.417.0665.
The children at NLC have the opportunity to learn about God and have some fun every Sunday morning during the 9:29am service at our New Life Kids ministry. However, to pull that off, we need competent, responsible and caring individuals to help serve as classroom helpers and classroom teachers.
New Life Kids openings:
We currently have space for another 20-25 people to serve 1x/month. In this ministry, it's also common for many volunteers to serve more frequently and then to attend the 2nd service (11:11am). Our greatest needs are for more classroom helpers across the board, but we also need teachers for our toddlers and pre-school age groups as well as someone who can help lead our large group K-5th grade teaching time.

Do you despise dirt? Do spots on the carpet or trash on the floor drive you crazy? Or do you simply love to clean? If so, we'd love to have you join the New Life Cleaning team. We keep our building clean entirely based on volunteer resources and we can always use an extra helping hand in this area.
Cleaning team openings:
We currently have space for another 10-15 people to serve 1x/month. Most of our cleaning team serves on Sundays (before and after the services). We also have openings for people to tackle special cleaning projects mid-week (basically on whatever time frame works for you).

One of the biggest challenges that we face on Sundays is trying to find a place for everyone to park. If you like bright vests and directing traffic with cool looking flags, then you’re in for a treat. Our goal is to field a team of 3-4 people for the first Sunday service and another 2-3 people for the second service. We need you to arrive at church 30 min. before the start of whichever service you are serving for and your job ends about 20 min. into the service (so you can usually still catch a worship song or two).
Parking team openings:
We currently have space for another 15-20 people to serve 1x/month.

With the blessing of so many people coming on Sunday these days, we have so many more people to greet so we’re hoping to add a few more greeting posts to our setup on Sunday mornings. This is an excellent opportunity to serve without missing out on a church service.
Greeter team openings:
We currently have space for another 10-15 people to serve 1x/month.

This is not the hardest job on the planet, but it’s a fairly important role for us on Sunday mornings. We need a few extra people to operate our lighting board and house lights during our Sunday services. We could also use a team leader for lights as well (someone to put together the lights team schedule and take our lighting on Sundays to a new level of excellence). If you’re curious about what happens behind the scenes at NLC on Sundays, this is an excellent chance to learn. We need our lights team members to arrive no later than 9:00am for the 9:29am service and no later than 10:45am for the 11:11am service. You can serve during both services or just one.
Lights team openings:
We currently have space for another 5-6 people to serve 1x/month. Additionally, we'd like to have someone apprentice to become the new Lights team leader.

Ok - we won't lie (which is probably good since we are a church). This isn't an easy job. It takes technical skill, attention to detail, and a willingness to operate in a relatively high stress environment (since you literally control what ends up on our screen on Sundays). But - if you have a decent facility with powerpoint and computers, this job may be for you.
Slider openings:
We currently have space for another 4-5 people to serve 1x/month.

Do you have a drill at home with more than 14 Volts? Can you drop 3 hours in the Home Depot and not even realize it? If you like building, repairing, construction, painting, outdoor work and anything that helps keep our building in good shape, this is the team for you. We have a whole list of projects just waiting to get done around here, but we need a skilled team of men and women to help us get them done. And to top it off, you get to work with Ben Brand (our announcement guy). If this sounds intriguing, but you don’t feel you have much experience in any of these areas, please don’t let that hinder you. We tackle projects in groups so there is usually someone around who can teach you what you’ll need to know.
Special Projects team openings:
We don’t currently have a cap on this team. The more the merrier. Isn’t that right, Ben?

Goodies, yummies, coffee and hot chocolate. Unfortunately, they don't just appear magically every week. But if we're going to keep up that impression, we'll need a team of folks that can shop for items and keep our refreshments area looking clean. If you're interested, we'd love your help.
Refreshments team openings:
We currently have space for another 7-8 people to serve 1x/month.

This is the behind the scenes crew that supports the operational framework for NLC. We tackle things like finances, event planning/coordination, volunteer coordination, comment cards, databases, the Info Center, and office management.
Operations (Admin) team openings:
We currently have space for another 3-4 people to serve 1x/month or more.

Worship is one of the most important facets of the New Life Church experience on Sundays. We want to create a dynamic, authentic opportunity for people to come and worship God. In order to do it, we need people who love God and who are able to express that love rockin' out on the guitar, jammin' the keys, or singing their hearts out (you can tell the worship folks didn't write this, can't you?). We have two primary bands and we do auditions about three times a year for our worship team slots.
Worship team openings:
We currently field about 9 folks on our worship teams (drums, keys, electric, acoustic, vocal, and occasionally other instruments like the violin). If you play any of these, we'd encourage you to try out at the next audition.

Since worship is such an important element for New Life Church, our Sound team also becomes critical. We need a team of men and women who know how our sound setup works and can operate the sound board during NLC events (both Sunday mornings and midweek on occasion). We currently have a digital Yamaha board and would welcome people who already have sound board experience. However, if you're willing to learn, we're also willing to train you.
Sound team openings:
We wouldn't mind have another 4-5 people who could serve 1x/month or more for the Sound team.
