Tell us about your family.
I live here in Ann Arbor, with my new husband, Josh! We met at New Life church a little over a year ago. I thought he was a jerk the first time I met him, but, he is not. He's amazing and God has blessed me through him a million times over. We were married in May 2009, and we're loving married life! We have two cats, Posey (7) and Zippy (13). We recently adopted them from the Huron Valley Humane Society.
My family is small but mighty. My parents live in the village where I grew up. They have two dogs and two cats. My sister and her husband also live in that village, they have two cats. :)
Josh's family is spread out through Michigan. Some in Ann Arbor, some in Grand Rapids, a few in Tustin, and a couple in St. Ignace. :)
How did you end up at New Life Church?
My allergist in Jackson, Michigan, Dr. Daniel Clifford told me about NLC during one of my appointments. He knew I was just moving to Ann Arbor to start work on my Master of Social Work degree and that I was looking for a church. :) Talk about providence!
Why are you still here?
I am still here because I love my ministry! I love working with grad students, young professionals, and working singles. They're an amazing group of people. I feel blessed just to spend time with these people.
I also love the social justice theme that the church has. It's powerful and wonderful to be surrounded by people who love Jesus and hate injustice.
What do you do here?
I run the programming for "Phase 2" (young professionals, working singles, and grad students). I supervise a leadership team that does the planning and coordinating for our Wednesday meetings (6:30pm! In the basement, join us!), I coordinate the small groups for both men and women and I help coach and train small group leaders. I also have the amazing job of following up with people who submit comment cards. I've met some really neat people via comment card and heard some really great life stories.
